The "glitzy" ONYX restaurant inside the AAA 5-Diamond Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village earns a Zagat rating of "very good to excellent" (22) for its "creative, flavorful" Japanese fare. For $89, Travelzoo subscribers can experience an
exclusive five-course dinner for two plus an amuse-bouche and bottle of sake, a total value of $213.
The restaurant's interior -- dubbed a "dramatic ambiance" by Time Out -- features back-lit walls of semiprecious stones (including the restaurant's namesake) and authentic accents like bamboo floors and silk lanterns. This dinner includes:
Amuse-bouche: Green pea soup with a roasted shrimp ball and orange olive oil
First course: A seafood salad with Alaskan king crab, green mussels, seared albacore, Japanese cucumber, wakame seaweed, edible flower and soy vinegar
Second course: Chef's choice seasonal assortment of traditional sushi, such as tuna, salmon, shrimp, fluke, yellowtail and eel nigiri; a tuna roll; and pickled vegetables
Third course: Roasted yuzu-soy marinated New Zealand king salmon, sauteed fava beans, lobster wasabi-mashed potatoes, mango and red pepper relish, and a yuzu butter sauce
Fourth course: Australian Renger Valley Ranch wagyu beef sirloin, deep-fried crispy rice, vegetable red curry and a black pepper veal sauce
Fifth course: Lemon curd brulee, sake cake and lemon-basil sorbert
Sake: 300-milliliter bottle of Kigen (a $22 value)
