The capture software is included with the system. It is only compatible with a Windows operating system.

Yes you connect your laptop to the VCR the images that at VHS player would normally display on the TV are saved on a USB which can then be burned to DVD.

Q: I also am not very computer knowledgeable. So here goes. Ater I have copied a vcr tape to a usb and then to a dvd, can I erease my usb and copy more tapes. I have about 200 movies on tape, not all that I want to record. But a lot of them will. How long is the process for one vcr?

Once you have converted the saved file to DVD you can erase the previously recorded movie. The recording process takes the length of the playback.

Not with the software provided. The Easycap only captures the images that would be displayed on your TV screen.

Your computer and VCR must be connected to each other for the device to work. Your VCR does not have to be connected to you TV however.
