Q: how much does the needed equipment cost?
ed, posted October 28 at 7:02 AM
Hello! This question depends on the type of gear you would like. A good set of snorkeling equipment will cost between $199 and $449 depending upon the quality of equipment you want. We offer an internet deal to our Spreebird customers that tops all competition. Once you purchase the deal, we send you the link to choose your package! Hope this answers your question.

Q: I am interested in doing this, but all the "not included" but needed stuff is worrying me since I have no idea how much they would cost. I need to know the bottom line cost for everything that I will need to pay/buy in order to do this (whether it's included in the package or I have to buy on my own).

Q: Hi,
How many meeting is the course and how long is each meeting? Also, Is the classes being done at pools or at the open water of the ocean?
And last one is what is the min age for the class?
Thanks,
Michal

The course takes four days to complete. You choose your first saturday and sunday, which will take from about 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for both pool and academics. The next weekend that you choose will be approximately four hours per day. This is to allow for two ocean dives. You'll end up spending time in the pool first and then go to the ocean. After the four dives, you'll then be certified as an open water diver that will allow you to purchase and rent scuba equipment. The minimum age for our Private course is 10 years old, the minimum age for this deal is 12 years old.

Q: Do you have to purchase the equipment or can they be rented? Can I also use my existing snorkeling gears, will they be good enough? Would this be PADI certification.

The mask, fin, snorkel, booties and logbook are not rented items. They are required for purchase prior to the beginning of your pool sessions. You can also use existing gear, but I suggest you bring it in to make sure that it is suitable for diving. Snorkeling equipment can be pretty small and if you don't have big enough fins, it will be hard work to propel yourself through the water. And yes! This is a PADI certification! I hope this answers your questions!

Q: Do you do this class during the winter also when the water is cold ?
Bob Ciereck, posted October 30 at 8:30 AM
Hello! Yes, we dive all year around! The good news is that the water stays around the same temperature all year around as it comes down from the Alaskan coast. We'll have between 58-68 degrees throughout the year! In my opinion, the best California diving is in the winter. There's no algae blooms in the water, the wave action is typically lighter and you'll get visibility in the 40 foot range on any given day!
Hope this answers your question.

Q: If I am reading this right. I need to bring own mask, snorkel, booties and a logbook? I am assuming these need to be diving rather than snorkel gear. Do we have to buy these from you or can they be purchased elsewhere? How far apart can the instruction days and the open water dives be? You refer to consecutive weekends - can this be changed? If there are four of us, can we buy four of these deals and use them together?
Sinclair Langlands, posted October 30 at 2:51 PM
Hello!
You are reading this correctly! You do have to purchase these, but I do ask that you allow us to send you the deal before you make a decision, I haven't met anyone that has found a lower price and we do price match. So, if you do purchase, I would wait to make the right decision.
You have one year to complete you course and you can change the following weekend to any one of the options you want. If you wanted to do your pool and academics in November and then wait until March to do your open water dives, that is totally fine. Most people like to do it consecutive because the information is fresh in their head though!
And yes to the four of you purchasing and using them together!
